Anyone can use the computers and internet services of our organization, without any exception.

5.      In what ways is your organization currently providing free computer and Internet services to the public? How is your approach and/or program innovative? The term “innovative” may apply to the programs, services, or methods used in providing free computer and Internet services.\
Our internet operational costs were financed by the profits of seeds sales to the government or other institutions, which are the main fund raising efforts of our foundation. The effort itself was made upon the work of many hands. Rural communities are very grateful upon our good deeds. As we help provide education and skills to their children through the available computers and internets at the beginning, they are willing to help our foundation programs, primarily programs of rehabilitation and conservation. Together with the communities and their children, our foundation has planted 80 acres of mangrove area independently, and has the seed to sell.
However, we will continue to find source and funds to facilitate the levelling demand of information. As the foundation developed, we have became a source of news on rural areas, mainly on rural technology, home industry, market information, related matters to climate change and global warming, and other use of rural communities’ development and the environment conservation. Through these interactions, the users of our services may learn about our activities and become YPMMD main supporter, and hopefully become our cadre in environment preservation.
6.      Please describe how other organizations might learn from your innovative approach and replicate your activities within their communities. Have your activities been replicated by other organizations in your region and/or internationally? Have your activities been published in scholarly literature as examples of best practices? If these are not applicable, please describe what makes your approach practical for other organizations. Please be as specific as possible.
What we think as the key of our effort is how  we practice the respect for local communities, local wisdom, and doing good for the benefit of the community.
Our organization is located in the village, about 35 km from the district, or 112 km from the provincial capital. In town, Internet services performed as an individual effort at a cost of IDR 4000 / hour. No organization / individuals perform internet service in our area for free, except those in government office (for employees).
Currently, there are no publication in any scientific literature we have so far. However, it can be figured that Internet and computers was first introduced in our area in 2000. Even after five years, in 2005, computers and the internet is something that is impossible for to use for some people, particularly the children and youth from underprivileged families. Believing on the importance of technology for everyone, our organization initiated a basic computer training programs for children and youth around our region.

§  Operational cost for first year: 7,058 US dollars
§  Increase capacity of electricity 705 US dollars

12.  Please briefly summarize why you feel your organization’s work should be considered for this award.

We have a value on which we hold on to and which has driven us this far. We believe that natural resources preservation can only be sustained through social awareness. It is inevitable, however, that this awareness can only works when social welfare is attained. Therefore, in our village, which is predominated by fishermen and farmers, we have tried our maximum effort to provide free services to initiate and enhance both knowledge and skills for children and youth, especially in Basic English training, computer training, and free internet service. This way, many of our trainees could finally get a decent job and improve their family economy. In return, they voluntarily support our institution program on natural rehabilitation and conservation.
Why should we be considered for this award? The answer is because we need it. We need it to give even better services for the community, a better chance to develop opportunities. We need it to raise our people self-esteem. And we need it to achieve the greater impact: humanitarian welfare and natural sustainability for the better world we lived in.
We have applied for the award the previous year and highly appreciated the feedback given by the committee. We hope we will have meet the expectation closer in this application. If additional information is needed, feel free to have us provide it.
